Bone Marrow–Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells: From Source to Therapy
Bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) represent one of the most extensively studied and clinically applied adult stem cell types in regenerative medicine. Sourced primarily from the iliac crest or femur through a standard bone marrow aspiration procedure, these cells undergo isolation of mononuclear cells via centrifugation and density gradient separation, followed by selective expansion of the mesenchymal stem cell population in culture.
